We join the nation in mourning Queen Elizabeth II who served us faithfully for over 70 years. May Her Majesty rest in peace. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the Royal Family at this time.
The Queen reigned for longer than any previous Monarch throughout British history, becoming a much loved and respected figure across the globe.
As a mark of respect to the Queen, the rail unions RMT, ASLEF and the TSSA have suspended the strike action planned for September. Rail services will run as normal on the 15th, 17th and 26th of September to enable the public to travel to the capital and pay respects.
Details of the timetable of official events are starting to be published - many are expected to be attended by significant numbers of well-wishers. Rail services to Scotland (Aberdeen, Edinburgh) on the weekend of the 10th and 11th September are likely to book up, as with services towards London w/c 12th September.
